OnePiece CatchUp Session: (Punk Hazard) - Arc Review

As I've mentioned in my bio, I am now suffering from addiction known as One Piece! I have watched the series before when I was a kid, growing up here in the PH, it was aired on GMA7 every morning. I believe, I have only watched the series up until Sky Island arc. Due to time restrictions I had as a kid, I wasn't able to catch up and when I grew older I lost interest with the series, and was appalled with how long I am going to watch or read the series to get to the current chapter (yup, in other words lazy af)

So, by the end of last year I've decided to watch the series and be current with both the manga and anime. And here we are, I am now recently done with Punk Hazard, and on to the Dressrosa arc. But before that let me share my thoughts about the Punk Hazard arc.

The main villain of Punk Hazard arc, Caesar Clown and the three "heroes'' of the arc: (From left to right) Trafalgar Law, Monkey D. Luffy and Vice-Admiral Smoker

The arc was great, at first I thought it was boring but I started liking it when Trafalgar Law, Straw Hats, and the G5 worked together to escape the island! And that fucking epic respect that the G5 folks have with Sanji (as far as calling him Aniki - Big Brother). I believed that in this arc, Tashigi now knew what Vice Admiral see in the Straw Hats, and this event might cause another collab in the future between the Marines and the Straw Hats.

Also, it is really fun watching Trafalgar Law, a serious man getting absorbed into the Straw Hats' unpredictable ways. By the way, I still think his DF power is insane and very much overpowered. (In the future Devil Fruit review, I will discuss about this)

As for Smoker, he seriously need to step up somehow. His relationship with the Straw Hat felt like a version of Detective Zenigata and Lupin. Oh shoot! This must be it, I've just realized this while typing, maybe Oda based their dynamic to Zenigata and Lupin!

The last three episodes were fun, we saw once again the Kung Fu Dugong from Alabasta, and it seemed that the leader formed a pirate crew made up of sea monsters and set to conquer dreams and travel to the New World. I hope to see an even stronger version of their crew in future chapters preferably form an alliance with the Straw Hats near the start of War arc. (Just imagine a group of sea monsters, acting like a team and imagine their high power levels in the future. I'm looking forward to see one of their crew to grow bigger, yep. I am referring the Kraken-like crew).

(Doflamingo single-handedly wiped out the G5 and almost killed Vice-Admiral Smoker)

Also, before I end my review, we were also given a glimpse of how strong the Shichibukai Don Quixote Doflamingo (Doffy/Joker) when he attacked the G5 and almost wiped them out in Punk Hazard, and he is so strong that Smoker proves to be no match for him. Thankfully Aokiji came in just in time to save Smoker, and the rest of the G5.

And by the end of the arc, we saw in the newspaper that Doflamingo is withdrawing his position from the Shichibukai, due to a deal with Law, so that he can have Caesar Clown again and continue the production of SMILE, which Kaidou (One of the Yonkou) truly desires for his Beast-men army. In that regard, even though he is the King of Dressrosa, he will have to go away because once again the Marines will seek to capture him. (All of that, just to prevent incurring the wrath of Kaidou).

(Sanji enjoying himself in Nami's body)

(Vice-Admiral Smoker in Tashigi's body)

Also loved the fanservice done by Oda, and also the animators if you know what I mean, all thanks to Trafalgar Law. (With the help of Sanji and Smoker), we saw a different side of Captain Tashigi and Nami (*wiping my bloody nose*)

**Theory : During the fight with Monet, Zorro exhibited a skill that made Monet paralyzed with fear. Some say that this is due to the fact of Zorro's overwhelming presence or power. But I believe this is a ln early form or rather a developing Conqueror's Haki. **

~ And now off to Dressrosa Arc~

Kaizoku ou ni, ore wa naru! See ya! Thanks for reading!

(By the way, for the previous arcs review, I will be posting it as soon as I caught up with the current arc in the Manga. And will try my best to adjust the post chronologically).
